We Blinked. It Was Huge
In 2015, Jamie Morton discovered that his father had self-published an erotic novel, Belinda Blinked, under the pen name Rocky Flintstone. Rather than pretend it didn't exist, Morton started reading chapters aloud to his friends James Cooper and Alice Levine, and recording it.
What began as a private joke about a sales executive's adventures in the "pots and pans industry" became one of the biggest comedy podcasts Britain has ever produced: over 430 million downloads, two sold-out world tours, and an HBO comedy special, before the trio chose to end it on their own terms.
Actor Michael Sheen, a vocal fan, once called the writing "Shakespearesque," which tells you everything about the affection this show earned, dad jokes and all.
